About Us
In 2002 a series of articles in the Sunday Telegraph featured the email address of Asbestos Watchdog's now Chief Inspector, Professor John Bridle. These articles drew over 1000 replies from concerned readers. It appeared that homeowners, businesses, public bodies and charities were routinely being advised by surveyors and asbestos removal contractors to spend huge sums on the removal of asbestos in homes and work places when an independent survey confirmed that the work was either unnecessary, or could be solved entirely safely and legally for a fraction of the cost. This provided shocking confirmation of just how extensively the confusion surrounding asbestos was shamelessly being used to exploit the public.
With a clear need for a service offering impartial advice, Asbestos Watchdog was established in November 2003. We now have a network of experienced and unbiased asbestos contractors covering most of the UK and a panel of leading scientists in fibre toxicology, pathology, occupational lung diseases, and epidemiology. Our Chief Inspector alone has over 40 years experience in the asbestos industry and, coupled with the unique experiences of our contractors throughout the UK, this enables us to cover every aspect of your situation with maximum safety and minimum cost.
Combining scientific knowledge with practical application and risk-based assessment, we are committed to providing professional services and practical advice to all businesses and individuals who feel ill-advised about the confusing world of asbestos.
